CBA Paris and CBA B+G teamed up to work with Carrefour Properties and create a different shopping space in Sao Paulo, in an emerging neighborhood full of energy and dualities. The challenge was to imagine a new space, to gather different people from Sao Paulo, in one place. Our job was to imagine this space and give it body and soul.
We understand the wishes of a sleeping neighborhood, waiting to reborn and move forward in a positive way. In a place full of life and possibilities, we had to create a connection between the desires and motivations of local residents and the essence of the Cosmopolitan Mall. The task evolved in a hybrid landscape with connection between tradition and modernity, nature and urbanity, natives and immigrants, youthfulness and maturity, horizontality and verticality.
The Cosmopolitan Mall is more than a meeting point for the people, it is a place to breathe in Sao Paulo. The visual identity created connects the dualities of Cambuci, among the diversity of people and straight lines (a constant in the city's architecture and even in the Sao Paulo flag) representing their paths. Everything is interconnected and in the same place in the middle of urbanity, and has a name: Cosmopolitan Mall.
